utter hypocrisy exposed again!!

WHEN Gordon Brown says “The country faces serious threats from international terrorists” it is news worldwide. Why? just two car bombs that didn’t even go off?

When Sl faces 1000kg bombs and 20kg bombs of far superior quality no one cares. When US rounds up 5000 Moslems after 9.11 and NOT ONE I REPEAT NOT one of them was a terrorist or linked to terrorists the HR community is deaf dumb and mute.

When there is extraordinary rendition they are deaf dumb and mute.

When there are torture camps in Poland and Romania where the Brits and the Americans fly their terrorist suspects they are deaf dumb and mute.

When Guanatamao operates with impunity and holds 500 odd suspects without habeas corpus rights, rights to a fair trial or rights to attorneys they are deaf, dumb and mute and also approving of such.

WHEN SL rounds up suspicious characters from boarding houses that normally house tiger suspects and without detaining them unlike at Abu Graib or at Guantanamao, they all cry (CHILCOTT and BLAKE O included) foul. Who is caught plum LBW in such a hypocritical world comrades? Or was that sort of a Darrel Hair decision?

More Bullshit by Chilcott and Blake O

A. Extra ordinary rendition and torture in secret camps in Romania and Poland.

B. Suspension of habeas corpus

C.Holding prisoners including citizens who have a right to a trial by jury;some for over 5 years
without the benefit of a trial or an attorney.

D.Illegal Wire tappings and rounding up of hundreds of Moslem citizens of their nations under suspicion

E. Frequent "Accidental bombings" causing "collateral damage"

F. An air assault by Nato-led forces killing at least 25 Afghan civilians on Friday June 22nd

G. On Tuesday June 19th, Seven Afghan Children dying in an attack by US and British led forces. They died when a School was attacked by mistake instead of a Taleban camp that was in close proximity to the Madrassas (a radical Islamic School).

H. The world's best Airforce missing a target in Baquba Iraq and hitting civilians on Thursday of last week.

I. The World's biggest humanitarian crisis in the middle east with over 2.2 million refugees and IDPs.

J. A million in Jordan and Syria. Their governments and welfare systems overwhelmed.

K.Within this week many strikes gone array in Afghanistan and Iraq with countless civilian deaths.

L. Lancet estimates over 600,000 Thousand Iraqi dead and even by conservative rightwing estimates at a rate of 30,000 per year since 2003. That will make it a bigger number than those killed by Saddam.

What do all these FACTs and verifiable data have in common? USA and UK!.

I will really like to see an honest discussion of their concerns for SL and its fratricidal war and their amazing Christian and humanitarian concern for IDPs, and HR abuse when the world's biggest Human Rights organizations have now labeled Iraq as the worst failed state in the world, with the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

Yet, our own people go to the US and label Sri Lanka as the worst place for humans and their representatives keep preaching what they obviously don't practice nor want the world to hear about the repurcussions of the biggest foreign policy blunder of the past 50 odd years (since Chamberlain capitulated to Hitler). How could these two diplomats in SL preach ? War is horrible and war is brutal. Wars fought against unconventional enemies leave a lot of horrible scars that not only foster terrorism, but feed right into their efforts to recruit more and more innocent people to destroy themselves. It feeds right into their propaganda efforts.

Now how could these two gentlemen berate Sri Lanka without having addressed the horrendus tragedies in Afghanistan and Iraq that they have created intentionally or unintentionally as a result of their actions to defend themselves and their right to pre-emptive strikes?

Will God judge them differently because they are Caucasian?

Karzai challenges hypocritical White man

On June 23rd Saturday, the American and NATO supported (and installed) President of Afghanistan Ahmed Karzai said the following. He was upset over the deaths of civilians caught in the middle of fighting between coalition US led troops and militant fighters.

"The disproportionate use of force to a situation and the lack of coordination with the Afghan government is causing these casualties," Karzai said. "You don't fight a terrorist by firing a field gun 30 some kilometers away into a target. That is definitely surely bound to cause civilian casualties."

According to President Karzai, an incident where 25 civilians were killed occurred when NATO forces came under fire in a village at around sunset and then the NATO forces went and bombed the village late night. He asked the question "why?" Even the US military admitted confirm that seven children died last Sunday when they bombed a building in eastern Afghanistan where al Qaeda fighters were believed gathered.

According to International press reports on CNN and BBC, Karzai stated "They cannot bring standards from their countries in the West and try to apply it in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a different country. It has different values systems. It has a different community structure. From now onward, they have to work the way we ask them to work in here. That's the line."

Karzai's remarks reflect growing unease among Afghans at the rising civilian death toll as foreign troops continue efforts to rid the country of Taliban.

Those are pretty harsh words coming from a man installed (and preferred) by the British and US regimes in their fight against Taleban rebels and Al-Qaeda terrorists. There have been many innocent civilian casualties caused by the forces armed with the most sophisticated weapons guidance systems, intelligence gathering electronics and are the best equipped and (financed)trained forces in the world.

Will the US Ambassador and British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka who are so critical of accidental civilian casualties be able to spin this news or explain away/rebut these harsh criticisms from their own man in Afghanistan while pointing fingers at Sri Lankan forces?

Hey Chilcott baby? What say you old chap? Another gin and tonic at the Cricket club while you pontificate about the tragedies of war and differentiate the horrors in Iraq and Afghanistan you guys have wreaked from the horrible tragedy in Sri Lanka?

Western Bullshit in Sri Lankan war

On Tuesday June 19th, Seven Afghan Children died in an attack by US and British led forces. They died when a School was attacked by mistake instead of a Taleban camp that was in close proximity to the Madrassas (a radical Islamic School). I have scoured and scanned every major western newspaper to see if the Indian, Norwegian, British or American governments had condemned or regretted this action and violation of Human Rights. I did not see any comment except by Human Right organizations about the excesses committed and are being committed by American and British led forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This tragedy has been repeated many times when wedding parties were attacked, schools bombed, Mosques bombed by Air strikes etc: most if not all these incidents were not deliberate; but they were most likely errors in judgment, timing or errors in intelligence and errors in technology. Now the US and British airforce have the best guided weapons systems in the world. They have the best Aircraft and most sophisticated Satellite based information systems they deploy before ordering a strike. They have cameras and communications and they have the capability of withdrawing or avoiding a strike within seconds.

Now despite all their billions of dollars worth of technology, such horrific battlefield tragedies and errors still occur. They just shrug their shoulders and say "collateral damage". If the Sri Lankan forces make a mistake or even if they strike a legitimate target where civilians are used as shelter for Tiger actions, or if they strike a dual purpose station used for paramilitary training, the British HC, the Norwegians and the US Embassy take it upon themselves to give advice and condemn these incidents and lecture to the brave SL forces with their long experience and sensitivity training(lacking in US and British troops in Iraq).

That is really a queer expression of double standards and as they say at the Lord’s Cricket Grounds: simply is not cricket.

British Duplicity in Sri Lanka

I find it rather queer that their HC will pontificate in Colombo now without even a mea culpa first for their own actions in Iraq and in N.Ireland.

U2, the very popular Irish Rock Group led by world peace activist Bono wrote a song called “Sunday Bloody Sunday” referring to an atrocity by the British Government against Irish civilians. Bloody Sunday occurred on January 30, 1972 in Londonderry. It was a massive civil rights march organized by the Northern Irish Catholics to protest the oppressive British policy of internment. Catholics were growing sick of their homes being raided and the random arrests happening everyday.

British army paratroopers fired live rounds indiscriminately into a crowd of unarmed innocent Catholic protestors. Thirteen were shot dead. All were unarmed, the majority were college students. Two months later a report was released by the British government which exonerated any troops from any illegal actions saying that they were justified in their actions.

For over 80 years the British government committed and justified the excesses they committed in N.Ireland. If the LAnkan HC to Britain at that time(when there was peace in SL and there was no war against terrorism, no suicide bombs, and no excesses in SL) were to have condemned the Brits in a forum in London he would have been declared person-non-grata and sent packing on the next avaiable BOAC flight back to Colombo!! That is how the nation whose Ambassador has taken it upon so arrogantly to berate Lankans act! They is how they are still acting in areas they occupy in their illegal invasion of Iraq.

Has any of the British educated English speaking, Scotch drinking Colombo elite Political pundits who wax eloquently in International forums on the tragedy and human right excesses and the horrific acts of terrorism and excesses by different factions in Sri Lanka ever gone to Britain to challenge them about their long history of abductions, torture and incarceration of innocent Irish Catholics? Or do we just roll over and say “yes massah” every time a Western Diplomat keeps berating colored folks? Does anyone have the guts to challenge the hypocrisy of western nations ? It all depends on who controls the purse strings and the media doesn’t it?

What is happening in SL is a tragedy that can only be overcome by a meeting of minds to offer a decent settlement that will satisfy the economic, social and political aspirations of Sri Lankan Tamil people who are first and foremost Sri Lankans and should be seen as such by all. A root cause of the war is poverty and inequitous economic development policies.

Some sort of autonomy and decentralized decision making on the allocation of resources will not be a threat to Sri Lanka's unitary state. Sri Lankas have lived and let lived with each other side by side with Mosques, Temples, Kovils and Churches in very close proximity for centuries. Most peace loving Lankans are extrelemy tolerant and compassionate and that is what is needed now the most to help protect every peaceful citizen while combatting the world's most effective, single minded and deadly disciplined separatist terrorist group. We don't have to go on for nearly 80 years like the British did to come to our senses.

The British government which is headed by the official head of the Anglican Faith, never heeded the following Biblical passages when they fought the IRA rebels. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9)

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)
