I won't vote for Hillary But....Here are some thoughts
QUOTE FROM MSNBC ON HILLARY
Hillary Diane Rodham already had covered a great deal of ideological territory when she sat down to assess Alinsky's tactics. She grew up as a Goldwater Republican, like her father, in the middle-class Chicago suburb of Park Ridge. By the time she was a freshman at Wellesley, when she was elected president of the College Republicans, her concern with civil rights and the war in Vietnam put her closer to the moderate-liberal wing of the GOP led by Nelson Rockefeller. By her junior year, she had to be talked by her professor into taking an internship with Rep. Gerald R. Ford and the House Republican Caucus. In her senior year, she was campaigning for the anti-war Democrat Eugene McCarthy. "I sometimes think that I didn't leave the Republican Party," she has written, "as much as it left me." -End quote
I thought that even in 2000 when despite GORE getting HALF A MILLION VOTES MORE(In most normal civilized democracies with straight forward elections that would be a big win except in Saddam's Iraq or China or Myanmar), he suffered from Clinton fatigue and above all an inability to articulate his intelligence.
He was brilliant last night and talked about an issue that the pathetic right wing dont even want to discuss as a science based issues. Apparently, inclusive of our great intellect Inhofe 83% of REPUBLICAN Senators don't thing Global Climate change is an issue that is worth scientific debate.
THIS IS EXACTLY The definition of a Conservative now. They are religious idelogues and extremists who believe in the Rapture, and Creationism as FACT and then go onto impose those on the views of the nation and interfere with science and everything else based on their twisted morals. For them Evolution is too scary to even study or evaluate because it might cause them some discomfort. Their morals go like this: "Blow job bad, Corruption, embezzelement, False wars, lying about war, bribes, no-bid contracts ok, abortion bad, but babies born to poor are their problem, fetuses sacred, but once life is born death penalty and war killing hundreds of thousands is ok."
And everytime anyone wants to raise issues with FACTS and DATA all of them have the same Mantra they repeat like parrots "Chappaquidick, Clinton's blow job" but they will NEVER want to discuss "We will be greeted as liberators, Insurgency in death throes, Saddam has weapons, British intelligence said he sought yellow cake, We are winning the war, Saddam was behind 9.11" which are far more serious issues that one of personal failing or panicking and a spoilt upper class Boston Brahmin driving drunk and killing a person. Apparently there again, they have selective amnesia. They dont want to talk about civil rights and how White Christian terrorists blew up innocent children in Birmingham or how Americans had to FIGHT for their rights that were deprived in the 1960s and 70s. Most of these chaps lived through those days and I am pretty sure all the So called Conservative REpublicans would have been on the immoral Unchristian side of that battle. T hey were mute when dogs were unleashed. They were mute when people were murdered and lynched, they were mute when fire hoses were turned on. They were against Integration of Public Universities. Such is the legacy of the Conservatives in my biased view.
Until this man became President, the civilized norm was to focus on the PRESENT and criticise the incumbent(I did it to Clinton too, for personal reasons: I felt he showed poor judgement in misusing his office, because it was clear an intern was enamored by the trophy of collecting the President's semen; If he went to a Patel Motel I would not have any problem).
Why do I say it? My grandfather was the last Governor General and First President of Sri Lanka (1962-1978)and we were trained to behave in the hallowed Premises of the PResidential Mansion first known as Queen's House and then as President's House; We grew up not knowing anything else for that matter; The only thing I stole the day he retired was a letter head with his name on it, for sentimental reasons; There was no one as conservative and strict a disciplinarian with a stiff upper lip than he I ever experienced; even to this date most educated S.Asian Americans bring a lot of conservative values such as stressing the need of education, respect for elders, respect for religions, to America and unlike the people in the red states who marry at 17, crank babies at 18 and have 3 divorces by 30 they stress family and kinship)
I wrote the campus paper questioning the timing of his bombing raid in Sudan. Turnns out I was wrong, because they did a lot but failed incl the airstrike that almost got Bin Laden. But I was as guilty as the people who said he did it to throw heat off Monica.
Every Republican diehard can only bring up Ted Kennedy and the Chappaqudick incident.
Guess what :? It was very very bad but Ted can never become President and should not; so he is NOT the President. Lets focus the disasters wrought by a crusader who talked to the "Higher Father" to go to war. What does that say about his ideology? That God said he has to spread freedom and he will do it by force? In Psychiatry, they call it delusional behavior I think...
If people in Massachchusetts want to elect Ted K(and no one wants to talk about significant legislation he passed to protect the poor working class in America) that is their prerogative isnt it? All Blue blooded Aristocrats Republicans and Democrats tin the US(and Sri Lanka or any other place) have very very special privileges and it is pathetic for Republicans to be in denial of that. They always want to show as if they do not get special privileges or that they dont have the hierarchical structure and special admissions based on wealth and power. Amazing how denial and ideology stands in their way of acknowledging it. For them if they made money it is only because they worked hard and not because no one ever gave them a lift somewhere along the line(What is the term for it in behavioral science ?Fundamental attribute error?) The smugness they show is so pathetic because of their denial state. They think gigantic corporate welfare subsidies are ok at the same time they claim to be believers in Laissez-faire capitalism. That is FALSE. But on the other hand, all fetuses are sacred until they are born. After that it is their fault they were stupid to have babies so lets not help them come out of the awful circle of poverty. And then with Natural Disasters, there are racists who say "those people waited for govt help, there is something wrong with those minorities speciall blacks because they waited for the govt to help them". Then how come we get Federal Aid for Tornadoes and Ice Storms too? And why not in the first place teach sex education and supply birth control so that the poor wont have too many babies so that they will not strain the system? NOOOO all they want to preach is abstinence when there has never been a culture of abstinence in American society. Compare that to traditional societies where women are expected to be virgins. So in a culture where sex sells and marketeers and marketing people do not care about how they sell what as long as it racks up the profits, we preach a practice that is diametrically opposite to what they practice in the media...And we have self-indulgent narcissistic society where living beyond means and appearances are more important, how do you reconcile craven capitalism with Jesus's life story? You cannot.
I was in agreement with some of the more traditional so called "conservative" themes such as not going on "Nation bulding" wars or not going into wars without a clear mission and an EXIT strategy, (W's exact words in the 3 debates), but it was only a lie and a cover to cater to the neo-con crusaders who are the puppet masters because they had plans to invade Iraq despite there not being a SCINTILLA of evidence about Iraq and 9.11 then or now. I felt we had extended ourselves in Somalia and intervened in a place the pathetic Europeans should have taken the lead(Bosnia). But it turned out What the REPUBLICANS painted as "Clinton's war" was a singular success and stoppped a human catastrophe from burgeoning into a Europe Wide conflict without a single American combat casualty. The Republicans were up in arms and specially our two imbeciles in the Senate.
But with Iraq, the foolish public were led to believe (75-80%) that Saddam was behind 9/11 because of the uninformed, 30 second sound bite world we live in where the generation of people are too lazy or too stupid or indiferent to read or study and rely on TV. That is why they were so wholesale about invading Iraq. Most did not know and to this date do not know the difference between Arab and Persian, Sunni and Shia or Kurd(rhymes with Turd eh?) or culture or language. And we are led by people who have no clue. What is the end result ": 3,167 today. Oh no LETS talk about Ted Kennedy at Chappaqudick, Clintons blow job and yes Al Gore saying he invented the internet. EASY to side step responsibility and accountability. That is the irony of it all.
Recently, McCain said the same thing Barack Obama said. ("Wasted lives"); The screaming Republican Banshees excoriated Barak Obama but did not do anything about McCain saying it until yesterday. The Screaming left wing banshees and right wing banshees are just the same; except those who spoke out against rushing into Iraq turned out to be right all along while they were abused, insulted, called Surrender Monkies on NaziFox TV, called unpatriotic and "hate america first" people. NOw my daughter's generation will still be paying a price for this folly. Whereas, Clinton's blow job only left some bad acid taste in Monica's mouth. How many more will die to fix the mess REPUBLICAN Cheney and Bush created?
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9)
