Response to Chris Buckley's essay on Market place of ideas

Subject: LETTER TO EDITOR

I applaud Chris Buckley for expressing solid views on the notion of freedom of expression; our leaders lied and continue to lie about non-existent ties between Saddam and Al Qaeda. We have the right to call elected leaders LIARS without fear of retribution as well. Bill Maher was kicked out of ABC for expressing opinions against the quagmire in Iraq. Phil Donahue was suppressed (by MSNBC) for speaking out against the Iraq quagmire. This regime has constantly sort to destroy people lives for speaking out against the biggest disaster in American policy. Everyone who had informed opinions about the war were silenced; accused of being “anti-American, unpatriotic pro-terrorist traitors” by the Patriot Police Mullahs of the Republican Party, and their Goebbelsian Faux News networks for years. Where does that oppression fit in our rights in the marketplace of ideas? White House planted a former male prostitute: Jeff Gannon to manufacture news. In the run up to the war, the media was suppressed by accusations. Defend the “market place of ideals” of those were who were censored by the media for speaking facts. Which is more critical to our way of freedom Mr. Buckley? Bombastic insulting racist journalists, millionaire talk show artists or a TRUTH based discussion of facts that have led to the death of 3380 Americans so far?

Voltaire’s quote “I may not agree with anything you say, but I defend to my death your right to say it” applies not just to “Conservative-Speak” and racist insults.
